Charity and Development Appeal 2011

The Diocese of Phoenix has established a $20,000 as the St. Charles Borromeo parish goal. Father Gonzales is asking at least 100 families contribute $200 each to this year’s appeal.

Charity & Development Appeal

The CDA serves the basic needs of our large and fast growing community. Every dollar is important to those that rely on CDA to provide services to the community.  Charitable organizations are able to provide assistance to families in crisis or need.  Children are educated through Catholic schools and parish religious education programs.  Our leaders, lay and ordained, receive the ongoing training and support they need to carry out their ministries.  Your gift supports all ages from the unborn to senior citizens.

El CDA sirve a las necesidades básicas de nuestra gran comunidad que esta creciendo rápidamente. Cada dólar es importante para los que confían en que el CDA le proveerá servicios a la comunidad. Las organizaciones caritativas pueden proveer asistencia a las familias  en crisis o con necesidad. Los niños son educados a través de las escuelas Católicas y los programas parroquiales de educación religiosa. Los lideres, laicos y ordenados, reciben el entrenamiento y apoyo continuo que necesitan para desarrollar su ministerio. Su donación apoya a todas las edades desde los no nacidos aun hasta los mayores.

Adoration

The new Liturgical Year began with the Season of Advent, when we prepared our hearts and homes for the Coming of Our Lord.  Then we celebrated the Coming of Our Lord in the Flesh 2000 years ago through the Season of Christmas.  Now as we enter what the Church calls Ordinary Time, we are called to truly live out the daily coming of Our Lord Jesus Christ into our bodies through the Blessed Sacrament… and into our hearts and minds through the Holy Bible, proclaimed at every Holy Mass.

On January 8/9, we were challenged by Father James Costigan from the Fathers of Mercy to read and reflect on the Sermon on the Mount (Mt. chap 5 to 7) when Jesus teaches us that we must be perfect as Our Heavenly Father is Perfect.  Our Lord gave us the Seven Sacraments of the Church to enable us to overcome our sins, our sinful habits, and our inordinate attachments to the world and its ways… in other words, for God’s Grace to work in us and move us toward Perfection in Him.

Father Costigan also encouraged us to say YES tour Lord specifically in the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.  We do this every time we say AMEN when we receive Him at Mass; we can also say YES by making frequent Spiritual Communions… and by visiting Him face-to-face in Eucharistic Adoration.

Capilla de Adoración

El Nuevo Año Litúrgico empieza con el Adviento, tiempo para  preparar nuestros corazones y nuestras casas para la Venida de Nuestro Señor. Después celebramos la Venida de Nuestro Señor en persona 2000 años atrás en Navidad. Ahora entramos al Tiempo Ordinario, somos llamados a vivir diariamente la venida de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo en nuestros cuerpos a través del  Santísimo Sacramento  y dentro de nuestras mentes y nuestros corazones  a través de la Santa Biblia, proclamada en todas las Santas Misas.

Adoracion Eucaristico

El pasado 8/9 de Enero, el Padre Costigan nos invitó a reflexionar en el Sermón de la Montaña (Mt. capitulo 5-7) cuando Jesús nos enseña que debemos de ser perfectos como Nuestro Padre Celestial es Perfecto. Nuestro Señor nos dio los Siete Sacramentos de la Iglesia para ayudarnos a sobre llevar nuestros pecados, nuestros malos hábitos, también para ayudarnos a separarnos de las cosas del mundo y sus caminos sucios, en otras palabras Dios nos dio Gracias por medio de los Sacramentos  para llevarnos a Su Perfección.

Padre Costigan también nos invitó a darle el SI a nuestro Señor específicamente en el Sacramento de la Santa Comunión. También le decimos Si a Jesús cada vez que decimos AMEN cuando comulgamos . Otra manera de decirle SI es haciendo comuniones espirituales y visitándolo frecuentemente  cara a cara en la Capilla de Adoración.

Bautizos en Español

Se deben seguir estos pasos para bautizos en Español:

1. Llenar la solicitud en la oficina y pagar $50.

2. Asistir a la orientación.

3. Asistir a la clase.

Se deben seguir estos pasos antes de que se realice el bautizo. Si no siguen estos pasos, tendrá que esperar para bautizar hasta el siguiente mes.

Propósito para 2011

Perder el miedo de aprender el ingles.  Si este es uno de sus propósitos para el 2011 reúnase a la clase Bilingüe  para principiantes que se ofrece en la iglesia de San Cristóbal los jueves por la tarde comenzando el 13 del mes actual.  6:30 a 8 pm por la 103 Avenida y Peoria.  Deje su nombre y numero con Sandy Arteaga para comunicarse con la maestra Dora.  Que este propósito se vuelva realidad.  “La jornada de mil millas comienza con un solo paso.”

Donor Network Offers Honorable Mention

The following appears in the winter quarterly edition of The Connection, a newsletter published by Donor Network of Arizona:

For two consecutive years, St. Charles Borromeo Church in Peoria has championed organ and tissue donation during services in honor of National Donor Sabbath. One member within its 1,000 parishioners is a lung recipient and Donate Life volunteer, Barb Davern. On Nov. 13 and 14, during National Donor Sabbath, Barb shared the story of her lung transplant to all church services. “Telling my story to the people of my parish helps me to get out the word that  donation works,” Barb says/ “I can now praise our Lord through song. Without the ‘gift of life,’ I would not be alive today.

Donor Network of Arizona wants to thank St. Charles, Father Loren Gonzales, along with Barb and her husband Tim, for their strong and active support of donation.
