November 30 Bulletin

The holiday season is fast coming upon us and your St. Vincent de Paul Conference is in the planning stage for our annual Children’s Christmas Party. We will once again lean upon your generous spirit by asking you to donate some items to make this project a success. The Children’s Christmas Party is our way of making Christmas special for some of our community’s neediest families with children. SVdP provides food, toys and treats for attending families. St. Vincent de Paul would appreciate your assistance with the following items: wrapping paper, tape, gift bags and tissue paper, stuffed animals, packages of hard candy, Thank you in advance for your help.

St. Charles Borromeo’s St. Vincent de Paul Conference would like to send a special Thank You to the Pop Warner Grant Association for their thoughtfulness to our conference. On October 28, 2008 they donated an assortment of canned and dry foods to our conference to help supply our depleting pantry. This donation is much needed and will go a long way in supporting our work in the community. As we all move forward with our lives please take time to remember those who are suffering and need an extra hand during these trying times. Any and all donations to the SVdP food pantry is very appreciated thank you in advance for your help and consideration.

Please remember to bring your special SVdP grocery bag to the church or parish office this holiday season. Let us always share of our bounty with those less fortunate as Our Lord call us to do.

Our coupon trading box is a huge success thanks to everyone that has donated, clipped and sorted. But it seems that parishioners canʼt find what they want or they donʼt have enough time to look or they just donʼt use coupons, so currently there are more donators than users.  The new change will help these issues and allow parishioners to request the specific coupons they want (for example Yoplait yogurt, Suave hair care, baby products in general, etc).  This will allow you to receive your own envelope with only the coupons you want and need.  The coupon box will still remain in the church foyer for everyoneʼs use but this change will make the process user-friendly.  And extra coupons remaining after our parishionersʼ selections are made, will be used in a monthly paid coupon service that will be offered to non-parishioners so that our expended community can benefit as well.  Expired coupons will also still be sent to military families overseas.  In the coming weeks look for product selection sheets near the coupon box and please fill one out and drop it in the sealed box next to the trading box. Also I will be teaching a class in December at our church to show parishioners how easy it is to save money using coupons, discounts and simple techniques.  If you have questions or suggestions email KathyChurch @YourSensibleSpending.com or call 623-878-4708.  Thank you.

Reminder to Parents/ Guardians Please make sure you bring your child/ren to their respective classrooms by 5:55p.m., at the latest, each Wednesday/Thursday evening so that their catechist can start the class on time. Then, please pick up your child/ren outside the classroom door at 7:15 p.m. If you need to pick up your child/ren prior to that time, please make sure you have a note for each catechist so your child can be released early. Without a note, no child can be released from class.

Prayers for Thanksgiving Day

Give us this day our daily bread, O Father in heaven, and grant that we who are filled with good things from Your open hand, may never close our hearts to the hungry, the homeless, and the poor; in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

— from the abbey of New Clairvaux, Viña, California

+ + +

Though our mouths were full of song as the sea,

and our tongues of exultation as the multitude of its waves,

and our lips of praise as the wide-extended firmament;

though our eyes shone with light like the sun and the moon,

and our hands were spread forth like the eagles of heaven,

and our feet were swift as hinds,

we should still be unable to thank thee and bless thy name,

O Lord our God and God of our fathers,

for one thousandth or one ten thousandth part of the bounties which thou has bestowed upon our fathers and upon us.

— Ancient Hebrew Prayer

+ + +

For each new morning with its light,

For rest and shelter of the night,

For health and food,

For love and friends,

For everything Thy goodness sends.

Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)
