Charity and Development Appeal

cda-msthd1

A true understanding of Stewardship begins with our understanding of the Christian vocation and call of Christ. God calls each of us to be a disciple and to live as a steward.

Stewardship isn’t just about giving in order to fill a need. It is about living a life that shows gratitude to our Lord for our lives, our skills, and our resources. Stewardship is first and foremost opening ourselves to God’s love, and then gladly returning that love in recognition that we are indeed One Family in Christ.

Stewardship requires participation in the mission of the Church. The Charity and Development Appeal (CDA) is an opportunity for individuals and families to work with Christ in making the mission of the Church real, vibrant and alive. Each of us is here for a purpose. Each of us is here to make a difference.

The Charity and Development Appeal (CDA) is the one Diocesan appeal that asks every Catholic family to financially and prayerfully support the more than 70 charitable, educational, and spiritual organizations which counsel, feed, clothe, house, educate, and comfort those in need throughout the four Arizona counties (Mohave, Maricopa, Coconino and Yavapai) within our Diocese. We are a family and the CDA serves the needs of our people beyond the boundaries of any one parish. As a result, more people are served across the community as well as within the parishes.

Everyone has the opportunity to choose how they contribute to the CDA.

You can make a commitment to pray for those in our Diocese who need our care and support.

You can make a financial pledge or make a one time contribution. Pledges and one time contributions can be paid by check or credit card.

I have invited Tony and Angie Valdez and Family to Chair this year’s Campaign . More information will be available in upcoming weeks from the Chairs and me.

This Week’s Bulletin Info

New Office Hours Monday Through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday

The Diocese has informed us that The Sacrament of Confirmation and First Holy Communion will be celebrated Wednesday, May 20, 2009 by the Vicar for Priests, the Reverend James Wall. Details will be made known to the students and families involved as the date nears.

Mardi Gras Update: The Social Committee wishes to thank everyone who cast a ballot for the King and Queen of Mardi Gras. The King and Queen will be selected from the nominees and announced at Mardi Gras Celebration 2009! Watch the bulletin for information about ticket sales!

If you want to decrease your expenses and increase your savings in 2009, please join us for “Simple Ways to Save Money”.  This class is being provided for FREE to St. Charles parishioners.  Come learn how easy it is to spend less without changing what you currently buy or where you buy it – the important thing is how.  Topics to be discussed will be price matching, becoming a preferred shopper, couponing and other simple techniques to save you money.  Date, time and classroom location will be provided in the near future.  If you have any questions please contact Kathy Church at 623-878-4708 or by email at KathyChurch@YourSensibleSpending.com.  Thank you.

Our coupon trading box is a huge success thanks to everyone that has donated, clipped and sorted. But it seems that parishioners canʼt find what they want or they donʼt have enough time to look or they just donʼt use coupons, so currently there are more donators than users. The new change will help these issues and allow parishioners to request the specific coupons they want. This will allow you to receive your own envelope with only the coupons you want and need. The coupon box will still remain in the church foyer for everyoneʼs use but this change will make the process user-friendly. And extra coupons remaining after our parishionersʼ selections are made, will be used in a monthly paid coupon service that will be offered to non-parishioners so that our expended community can benefit as well.  In the coming weeks look for product selection sheets near the coupon box and please fill one out and drop it in the sealed box next to the trading box. If you have questions or suggestions email KathyChurch @YourSensibleSpending.com or call 623-878-4708. Thank you.

Ida Griffin will be taking a leave of absence from the management of the Gift Shop due to health concerns. The shop will now be open during office hours Monday through Thursday, and Sunday mornings when Ida’s health is good. Thank you for your understanding and prayers.
