Catechetical Sunday

Catechetical Sunday: On Sunday, September 21st. at the 10:00 A.M. Mass all catechists and volunteers in our Parish Religious Education program will be commissioned during the liturgy. We invite all parishioners to participate in this Mass to thank these parishioners for their time and service to in most important ministry.



A big THANK YOU to everyone who has donated, clipped and traded coupons for the Parish coupon box. For those of you who haven’t tried it, I invite you to take a look and see how many ways there are to save on your grocery, retail and restaurant bills. The coupons donated have already blessed so many others including military families overseas and the St. Vincent de Paul Ministry. So please continue to donate your Sunday coupon inserts or any coupons you don’t want and pick up some that you do. Please place any unclipped coupon donations under the coupon box and they will be clipped and added to the box. Diocesan Event

Catholic Retreat for Young Singles, Fall Retreat- “My Lord, My God” Theme. Come from Friday, 5 pm 9/26- Sunday 9/28, 3 pm at the Mt. Claret Retreat Center at the foot of the Camelback Mtns. in Phoenix. It is a serene and beautiful setting; the weekend is full of talks about various aspects of living out Catholicism, masses, adoration and confession. This is the 15th year of CRYS retreats for singles ages 21- 40! If you are interested, please call Nick Canneppa at (602) 499-2096. Cost is $50 (arrangements can be made to help cover the cost.)

RE News

The next  Pre-Baptism  Class/Retreat for The English Group will be on Saturday, October 4th. at 9:00 A.M. in Reid Hall. Please call Deacon Joe at the Parish Office to reserve a space.

The next Baptism Orientation Meeting for The Spanish Group will be on Sunday, Oct.12th. after the 8:00A.M. Mass in Rm. 4. Please bring all the appropriate forms with you.

Attention Parents/Guardians. If this is your child/ren’s 2nd. or 3rd. year in our Catechetical program, he/she will be preparing to receive the Sacraments this coming Spring. A letter will be given to you by your child’s catechist at the end of class this week. If you do not receive a letter and believe your child is eligible to receive one of the sacraments, please contact Deacon Joe immediately.

Attention R.C.I.A. Candidates (English), our class has been moved to Reid Hall for the rest of this year. Also remember to invite your sponsor to class each week if at all possible.

Reminder to Parents/ Guardians Please make sure you bring your child/ren to their respective classrooms by 5:55p.m., at the latest, each Wednesday/ Thursday evening so that their catechist can start the class on time. Then, please pick up your child/ren outside the classroom door at 7: 15 p.m. If you need to pick up your child/ren prior to that time, please make sure you have a note for each catechist so your child can be released early. Without a note, no child can be released from class.

New, Larger Gift Shop is in desperate need of volunteers. Would you like to spend your voluntary time working in a roomy, air conditioned shop with fun, dedicated staff and help develop the new shop into the next level? Contact Ida Griffin at the Gift Shop or Sandy in the church office. “My goal is to be open every day for a time to provide a Spiritual haven with products to be utilized in your personal Journey with Our Lord. There will be space to Meditate and share a Cappuccino with others in a very rewarding part of this Community Ministry.”

Diocesan News

On Saturday, October 4, 2008 the fourth bi-annual 2008 Legislative Seminar, sponsored by the Phoenix Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and the Knights of Columbus, will begin with Mass in St. Mary’s Basilica at 8 AM celebrated by the Most Reverend Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted. After Mass, we will proceed to the Diocesan Center for a free breakfast and seminar. Bishop Olmsted will release his expanded booklet, Catholics in the Public Square, and everyone is invited to attend. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Jennifer Roback-Morse, who will speak about the value of Traditional Marriage. Nikolas T. Nikas and other speakers will address additional current issues important to voters. Advance Registration is required due to seating capacity limits.
