GivingCart Fundraising

Give 1 to 50% of your purchase to Saint Charles Borromeo Parish!

The Roman Catholic Parish of Saint Charles Borromeo in Peoria, Arizona has been named as a recipient of funding from GivingCart, an internet shopping portal. Please visit GivingCart and name St. Charles Borromeo as your account “cause.”

The following information is from the GivingCart website:

GivingCart is owned and operated by GivingCart Foundation, a joint project of three young Catholic laymen who want their work to help change the world for their fellow Catholics and the Roman Catholic Church. GivingCart Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity incorporated in the State of California.

Our mission

GivingCart is a fundraising tool. Its mission is to support approved Catholic parishes or organizations, auxiliaries connected to the Catholic Church, and other organizations that serve the Church.

In response to a sharp decrease of tithing and the coincidental emergence of e-commerce technology, GivingCart helps the Church thrive and grow in the modern world. The potential for revenues generated by GivingCart is virtually unlimited, providing funds for church buildings and grounds, for youth groups, for Catholic elementary schools, for Catholic high schools and colleges, for religious orders, for pro-life leagues, for seminaries and foreign missions.

With a few extra clicks of a mouse, GivingCart can change ordinary internet shopping into timely acts of generosity—a response to Catholic financial needs close to home and all over the world.

How it works

GivingCart uses affiliate marketing to raise funds for approved Catholic financial needs. Just log in to your account in GivingCart and click on the logo of the merchant you want to shop with. Your purchase from that merchant earns a return, earmarked for the Catholic cause of your choice.

What is affiliate marketing?

In affiliate marketing, the online merchant pays a commission to the web site that directs the consumer to the merchant’s site. For example, if you click the 1-800-CONTACTS logo on this web site and spend, say, $100 on some contact lenses, then 1-800-CONTACTS gives 8% of the sale ($8.00) to GivingCart for directing you to their web site. We then pass that return on to your selected Catholic charity, less a small portion to cover our costs.

The transaction is similar to a credit card’s reward program. We list hundreds of online stores, and each listing on our site states the percentage (or, in some cases, a flat dollar amount) returned from each sale. Through GivingCart, Catholic consumers turn their ordinary purchases into a method of regular donation to the Church.

What is GivingCart?

GivingCart is a portal for Catholic internet shoppers. When you register for a free membership, you choose the Catholic project or charity that will benefit from your transactions, with the option to change your beneficiary at any time. A running tally keeps you posted on how much money you have raised for your particular Catholic cause–and, as well, the total amount raised thus far by all GivingCart members.

Why will GivingCart work?

Internet spending doubles every year, with more and more businesses expanding their online services each day. The average shopper spends over $3,500 per year shopping online, and the average commission in affiliate marketing is above 10%. With a modest network of just 30,000 online Catholic shoppers, GivingCart can raise more than $10,000,000 each year for the Catholic Church. The potential expands, of course, with the growth of the network.

When is the money sent out to my cause?

GivingCart transfers funds to registered designated recipients on a regular timetable. If the individual account of a charitable cause contains less than $10 at the end of a transfer cycle, the funds carry over to the next cycle until $10 or more has accrued.

Promote GivingCart

Whether you are a parish or diocese, youth group, Catholic elementary school, Catholic high school or college, religious order, pro-life league, or seminary—GivingCart can help your cause.

But the success of GivingCart, as a fundraising tool for you, will depend foremost on the information and encouragement you pass along to the members of your Catholic organization.

Here’s how:

  • Use GivingCart for your own purchases to witness the earning power of the website. Regular shoppers at GivingCart make the best advocates for its potential.
  • Pass the word to friends, family, and acquaintances. Personal referral is still the most trusted and effective form of advertising. For your convenience, we will provide promotional materials to download and print, like posters and bulletin inserts. Watch the space below!
  • Make GivingCart your homepage: a shortcut and reminder. Any online purchase you forget to make through GivingCart is a loss to the Catholic cause you support.
